It takes approximately 150 or so hours to finish the game first time unless you play with organized guild team (in which case it will be over much sooner even if you don't skip missions). After you have finished you still need 20+ skill points even with all skill quests done which is quite sobering (my first character has 350000 experience at the moment). I wish Signet of Capture didn't cost skill points.

Well when i finished the game once, its quite boring to have it to finish all over again and again and again.
The game isn't getting more interesting after finishing the storyline once and then have to do it again.
Ok so you have some new quests because you take another class, still the main quest stays the same.
Been there, done that, nothing new.
Ppl would still finish quests to gain skills/xp but after you beat it once you should get the option to unlock at least the main quest towns/camps from Ascalon to Hell's P.
If one likes to make it hardcore from A to H then dont use the unlock feature. I know that i will not waste my time to go through all those missions again for second and third chars. Give the player the option and they will decide if to use it or not.
/edit
And about early lvl PvP. Most ppl start with real pvp when they got their char lvl20/ascended or they make directly a pvp char.

Except if they rushed it, they obviously disliked it and wouldn't want to be bogged down by it for 3 different characters just to cover all of the professions. And that's only if you repeat no professions at all.
And it certainly wouldn't FORCE you to skip anything. If you like redoing missions over and over again, with an open map, you could do just that, and skip the few missions you may not want to do.
I'm on my third character, and I've repeated monk once, so I'm still short a profession for skills. However, I'm not even at Lion's Arch and I'm already getting insanely bored of doing everything again again.
When I was getting used to the game, the slow pace was fine, and I got to experience a lot of the content. But I've already experienced all of the available content, multiple times, especially if you count failing and having to redo some missions.
I don't want my gameplay measured in quantity, I want quality. I want to enjoy novel experiences almost constantly. Redoing the missions over and over again isn't achieving that. Sure, unlocking the new skills and using them is fun, but for practical purposes, and because picking things foolishly makes you a handicap for your teams, I still end up settling on a handful of skills that I'll predominantly use for the purpose of getting farther so I can get more skills. (which is the same reason I had trouble capturing skills with my healer. I could have brought a capture signet, but that would have required taking my attention off my party, and sacraficing a slot in my skill bar that could be used to support the team)
If I had a guild that ran members to ascension rapidly, you can bet I'd take them up on the offer right away. >.<
But I'm tired and probably not quite thinking straight, so don't mind if I derailed my train of thought somewhere along the lines >.>

Warrios are dumb and easy to play:
Yaks bend - level 8 (done with missions)
Lions arch - Level 9 (half missions, half walking west)
To temple of Ages over Fishermens Haven - Level 9
Sancrum cay done with level 10 serveral times, because it was soo easy with 7 hencheman.
Reached the Desert with - Level 11. (but is now boring because of only 5 and bugged as hell hencheman)
15 hours playing time and 150 deaths.

Well I am sure it gets boring. After reaching Sanctum Kay with my Ranger I decided to stop there and pick up a W/mo which I actually like to play (and I play it well). I decided to take the long ways around. I never had Frontier Gate, and many other missions on my map. I soloed most of it with henchmen and finally Ascended. Ran a few missions out of Droknars Forge and stopped.
Now I have a E/N somewhere in Denravi I think and will soon erase my PvP charachter and play up my monk. I deliberatley have tried to take alternate routes for all my charachters to extend the play time. I did some PvP in PUGS to space out my time even more. My guild probably are not happy about this, but so be it.
Now due to a new job, stuck in a very remote location I haven't been able to play for 3 weeks and I have the same feeling I had waiting between the Betas- Totally desperate. So can't wait to get back to a place where I can play again.
I found that you can make all the Grind more interessting by varying your mission routes, skipping missions, skipping quests to be done with other charachters later. Take your time. I lack one skill for my PvP charachter, but I do fine without it. But It will be even more fun when I get it.
I check the Ladder now and then and I see that The Fianna is not even on it. If they are taking their time, I can too.
So as they say in the Riverside Mission - "stay off the beaten path", I think you will find it more enjoyable.

Why worry if it will shorten the game if you are given the option? I think it is a great idea.

I logged 100 hours and just now made it to Crystal Desert and am starting over. The first time though, I didn't really pay attention to the story line, I just accepted quests and followed arrows and markers. This time I'm going to take it slow and read all the info, explore, read the inscriptions on the shrines to the gods, etc.

If you're looking for more of a challenge maybe you could play the game with one hand tied behind your back or something?
Seriously, if you can't find something to entertain yourself with in the game then I don't think anyone out here is going to make it any better for you. I mean, go through and start doing some roleplaying! Drastically change your playing style! Start looking for fresh people to team up with and start moving through the maps together!
In regards to that last point, there have to be other people who are looking for help, because they are trying to get through some of the tougher missions for their first time ... pimp yourself out as a sherpa or something ... I mean ... this is a MULTIPLAYER game isn't it? I would have to think that the people who speed through levels are mostly looking for the PvP rewards ... and there's nothing wrong with that. But if you're getting bored ... try meeting some new people!
That's my two cents anyway ...

Yes, I know people are already doing it, but by giving so many alts free access to most skills and high level armor, you're ruining the game a lot for the new players in the arenas.
No, absolutely not.

I can't understand how this could affect anyone.
This game is based on being level 20, it's been said numerous times by A.Net.
1-10, 11-15 Arenas are not *major* parts of the game, nor should they be. If you want PvP action then start a pre-made and satisfy yourself.
I'm all against the UAS button, but this would really satisfy alot of PvPers while not affect PvEers at all. Maybe just me, but I find it ridiculous that people will *whine* over the 1-10, 11-15 Arenas.
